The moment I saw this, I knew I had to read on!

Don’t you just want to throw yourself to this beautiful crowd? Yes, it’s the start of this year’s much-awaited Winter Party Festival!

Muchos gracias! :D), is featuring the WPF. (You know what this means…the Gay Pride festivals are also just around the corner!)

So just what is the WPF and what can you expect there? Here’s something from the official WPF website:

Launched in 1994 as a one-time charity dance event on the sands of beautiful South Beach, Winter Party Festival has evolved into a six-day festival benefiting the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community on the national and local levels. Over 10,000 guests from all over the United States and abroad attend at least one of the 20 events - including music, fashion, art, comedy and more — that take place in Miami and Miami Beach. The Festival climaxes with the Winter Party Beach Party, a dance event on the sands of South Beach that draws a crowd of more than 5,500 revelers. The 15th Annual Beach Party will be the centerpiece of the 2008 Winter Party Festival. This fabulous celebration, benefitting the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, is also an important fundraiser for the LGBT community. To date, the Festival and its sister event, the Miami Recognition Dinner, have raised over $1.6 million for organizations serving the South Florida LGBT community.

Who’s going?

Does this Hilary Clinton message to the LGBT community move you to vote for her or not?

As I have traveled around the country these past twelve months, what I sensed in my heart has been confirmed – America is embracing its LGBT sons and daughters with an acceptance and understanding as never before. On the campaign trail, a father of a gay son will ask about ending Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. A woman will ask why she can be discriminated against just because of who she is. Sometimes they wait furtively for the crowd to thin and then whisper their confidences in a soft voice and sometimes they stand up proudly at town meetings and want me to share my views on how I will help lead the change to assure that this country fulfills its promise to everyone.

Let me tell you what I have been telling voters across America. I am fully committed to the fair and equal treatment of LGBT Americans. For seven long years, the Bush Administration has tried to divide us - only seeing people who matter to them. It’s been a government of the few, by the few, and for the few. And no community has been more invisible to this administration than the LGBT community.

I will change that. The best evidence of what I will do as President is what I have already done.

Very disturbing news!

Do you know that the very same school that 14-year old Belinda Allen comes from is also the same school where an 11-year old boy who hanged himself from his own bunk bed at home using shoelaces comes from as well?

Allen recently committed suicide because of alleged bullying. The kids at school reportedly called her “a dyke” and chided her for her clothes.

So what has the school been doing? And most importantly, what will they do now that two of their students have unfortunately decided to take their own lives?

GOOD NEWS ALERT! GOOD NEWS ALERT!

Deaths in New York City from HIV/AIDS reportedly fell by nearly 15 percent in 2006. This, according to a statement from the city health department Wednesday.

Pretty good, welcoming news if you ask me! Now I hope the numbers for 2007 are as positive…let’s keep our fingers crossed.

Senator Larry Craig (Idaho) and his equally crazy minions of lawyers have sought to have his guilty plea in a bathroom sex sting operation erased.

In an appeal made recently, Craig claimed that the act wasn’t criminal because it didn’t involve multiple victims.

That’s right - wait for 2 or 3 more victims before you succumb to the fact that you’re a pig and nothing else. What a jerk!

Consider this: If Canada’s top Roman Catholic official apologized to you for the failings of the church, will you forgive him…and consequentially, the church?

This is what exactly happened when Canada’s Marc Cardinal Ouellet admitted in an open letter published in Quebec newspapers Wednesday that scandals have tarnished the image of the church in Quebec and that “we must humbly ask forgiveness.”

Ouellet, archbishop of Quebec and Roman Catholic primate of Canada, wrote that this “abuse of power” including the sexual aggression of priests against children - put public faith in distraught and has stirred in a lot of controversy.

“I recognize that the narrow minds of some Catholics, prior to 1960, encouraged anti-Semitism, racism, indifference toward First Nations and discrimination toward women and homosexuals,” Ouellet wrote, adding that these mistakes have tarnished the church’s image.

Ouellet also wrote that such has driven a wedge between the Quebec public and its religious identity.

“We understand. Forgive us for all this pain.”
